Come celebrate with us this Sunday for Laura Kastens retirement and Music Appreciation Sunday. After the first service there will be a breakfast at 9:30 am in Fellowship Hall. Please join us as we thank Laura, all our musicians for this past year’s service as worship leaders, and for special recognition of sixth graders, and our graduating seniors!

Road Map Update Presentation Now Available Online!

Over the last couple of months the Road Map Team has met with 10 different groups in homes and at the church. But we realize that not everyone was able to make it to one of these meetings. By pressing play on the link below you will be able to see and hear the complete presentation online. The presentation was created by the Roadmap Team and contains current information as of 04.01.12. The slides include information on cost estimates for construction/financing of Melrose and Camp Cardinal sites, an architectural/program review, and a financial feasibility study, among other items. Information came from architects, engineers, contractors, capital campaign consultant, the City of Iowa City, the University of Iowa, real estate agents, and retirement facilities, among others.

FAITHS Summer Mission Day Camp

We are now accepting registration forms for FAITHS, June 25-29. FAITHS (Friends Acting In The Holy Spirit) is a summer mission day camp for students entering 7th-12th grade. We will use each day to work on service projects in the Iowa City area, and to serve a lunch to grandparent-age members of our congregation. Our days will begin at 8:30 am, with devotions and directions. Our work will end by early afternoon, generally between 11:30 am – 2:00 pm, depending on the project for the day. Vacation Bible School 2012, June 18-22, 8:30-12:00

In the footsteps of Jesus

Kids and volunteers are invited to walk “In the Footsteps of Jesus” at Vacation Bible School this summer. VBS is 8:30 to noon, June 18-22. The youngest participants are children who will enter kindergarten a year from this fall. The oldest participants are children who will be in 6th grade next year. Older students and adults are encouraged to attend as volunteer leaders. Volunteers can help in the nursery; in the kitchen; as story-tellers; or with crafts, science experiments, cooking lab or recreation. Registration forms for children and volunteers are at the Welcome Table. Deadline to register children is May 13. Cost is $15 per child. We usually have about 100 children at VBS, and we encourage families to register early.

During the week, we will focus on the birth of Jesus, Jesus as a child, Jesus calling the disciples, the Lord’s Prayer, and the death and resurrection of Jesus. Join us for a week of fun!
