FAITHS

Friends Acting in the Holy Spirit

FAITHS is a summer mission day camp for students entering 7th-12th grade. We use each day to work on service projects in the Iowa City area, and to serve a lunch to grandparent-age members of our congregation. Our days will begin at 8:30 am, with devotions and directions. Our work will end by early afternoon, generally between 12 and 2, depending on the project for the day. Contact Heather Woodin by email, heatherw@saintandrew-ic.org,
or phone, 319/338.7523 for more information on this year’s schedule.

The t-shirts said, “If you’re gonna talk the talk, you’ve gotta walk the walk” and that’s exactly what 24 junior high and high school students did during the week of June 21. They participated in FAITHS (Friends Acting In The Holy Spirit), a week of service at different organizations in our community.

The rain won out over FAITHS a couple of times, but the group still accomplished a lot between raindrops: We moved brush off Woodpecker Trail at the Coralville Reservoir, we spent a morning at the Coralville Ecumenical Food Pantry, and we crossed off many items from the “to do” list around the church: weeded the flower beds, moved items to be stored upstairs, organized the skit closet and another supply closet, vacuumed floors and window sills, cleaned tables, cleared bulletin boards, and pulled everything out of one side of the garage, swept and reorganized. On Friday the students prepared and hosted the Grandparents’ Lunch for about 45 guests.
